Do not capitalize academic degrees when they are used as a general description or classifiction.
He is working on a master's degree in taxation.

Do capitalize academic degrees that follow a personal name as a formal title.
John Smith, Doctor of Philosophy in Education.
James Jones, Doctor of Medicine.
Do not capitalize the words freshman, sophomore, junior and senior.

Capitalize the word grade when it refers to a specific grade level; i.e., when a number follows it.
She is in the 6th grade.
